Geometrical Concepts from Constructions, Models, and Investigations Summary

Friday, July 12, 2002

Today we went through Joyce and Kris' lesson "Rhombic Dodecahedron; the Neglected Polyhedra" which was one of the two products from the 2001 Geometry group. We used Zome tools to build the models and answer the discussion questions. The Geometry group members gave a little feedback and extension suggestions.

We also talked about the definition of space filling (or space tessellating) and ways of visualizing this with the cube, rhombic dodecahedron, octahedron and tetrahedron (from yesterday), and other polyhedra. We also experimented using Ramogons and a puzzle called Trigam. http://www.drtoy.com/drtoy/nova.htm
