Teacher Professional Continuum Summary

Monday - Friday, July 9 - 13, 2007

The TPC group is continuing to develop facilitator materials to compliment the 2007 and 2004 materials. The template, which Cathy and Sendhil developed in week 1, is being employed by both groups to frame their writing of the guides as well as to direct our discussions during debriefing. It was discovered that neither Sarah nor Al had seen much of the mathematics content component of the facilitators' guides that were developed last summer for use with the 2006 materials. These materials have now been forwarded to Sarah, Al and Gail, and will serve to enhance the materials that were being used in field tests by various facilitators employing the 2006 problem sets as the curriculum for professional development work with teachers.

The group continues to meet each day with Ben and Bowen to debrief on the mathematics and the dynamic of the morning class in order to capture a variety of perspectives. Then the two writing teams break off to pursue their own work. Sarah and Al continue to be in contact frequently via email.
