Title: Online math: what is it good for?
Abstract: Since I started writing about math in 2012, I've become more and more involved in the math blogosphere and Twitterverse.
Math communication comes in many flavors and serves many purposes, among them education, entertainment, and conversation.
Blogs and social media give us the ability to talk with people we never would have before; the interaction between middle- and high-school math teachers and math professors, for example, is a valuable opportunity for professional development for everyone involved. Online platforms also give us a chance to connect with people who think they hate math. How can we make the best use of these opportunities for connection and conversation?
