Scaling the Teaching Curve: A PCMI Weekend Experience
- Authors: Brian Hopkins, Vicki Lyons, Chuck Larrieu, Anne Paoletti, Marty Schnepp
-
- The weekend workshop group worked on a two day professional development program to extend the reach of PCMI's Teacher Leadership Program beyond summer activities. We developed content, facilitator guides, and handouts for ten 80 minute blocks: five on mathematics based on activities Brian has led with teachers in various, three reflecting on practice blocks from the year emphasizing tasks, with space for two based on the working group products of a local coordinator. While it is not possible to replicate PCMI in a two day setting, we believe this experience will represent the TLP and its goals to deepen mathematical knowledge, reflect on practice, and experience new resources.
