| Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability SummaryThursday, July 11, 2002Carol started the afternoon off with a discussion about the discrimination case. We will take our data and put it into FATHOM along with simulating lots of cases to determine discrimination. Then a discussion ensued on the complexity of the terminology and concepts in Gail's book being used for ALL students. If Data Analysis is pieced into the K-8 curriculum, we find it might ease the transition for high school students to actually comprehend the topics that are included. Directions for using the Paint program and the Clip2Gif program for attaching graphics to the PCMI Problem solutions, as well as for getting to the 'office' are included on our Data web page. David Kapolka will work on directions for using the Graph Link for the Mac, and Carol will work on directions for Graph Link for the PC's. These will eventually be placed on our Data web page. Having all of these choices available should help tremendously. We then broke into our partner groups to decide upon a PCMI Problem, including parameters we will use during the school year. The goal is to have at least one problem per pair on the PCMI Problem page before we leave Park City. Beverly reported that Suzanne will delete all our names after we leave, and we are to try to submit answers to the PCMI Problem to make sure that the site is working properly. If not, please report it immediately to Suzanne via email (suzanne.alejandre@gmail.com). |
