Groups continued to work on our task: Change a typical textbook problem into an interesting problem with multiple solution methods. Each group had to prepare a poster. The meaning of our poster is to create some open ended problems for our students.
Each poster should include:
- Determine if the problem is appropriate
- Is the problem rich in mathematical content and valuable mathematically?
- Is the mathematical level of the problem appropriate for the students?
- Does the problem include some mathematical features that lead to further mathematical development?
- Anticipate students' responses to design a lesson.
- Make the purpose of using the problem clear.
- Make the problem as attractive as possible.
