Exploring Discrete Mathematics SummaryMonday - Friday, July 9 - 13, 2007Subgroup Work Continues This week our 'Lattice Paths Activity' subgroup prepared the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd drafts of teacher notes and student activity sheets. The activity includes a table and grids for groups to record their lattice paths. The 'Lattice Paths Day 2' subgroup created the 1st and 2nd drafts of teacher instructions for their group activity. We are also working on a 'Pascal's Triangle History' sheet for teachers. The 'Plinko' subgroup created and tested simple prototypes. The design and implementation turned out to be not as easy as we had hoped. We still do not have a good physical prototype with the correct approximate probabilities. With the interest of future teacher work in mind, we decided to go with online applets for a demonstration of the plinko game. We are preparing group activity documents that use the online applets. |
