Investigating Geometry Summary

Monday - Friday, July 13 - 17, 2009

The Investigating Geometry group began the third week with a broad discussion of reasons for teaching geometry. The prompt for our talk was an excerpt from Nathalie Sinclair's The History of the Geometry Curriculum in the United States. The rest of the week was devoted to project work. One group focused on teaching cyclic quadrilaterals from middle school through high school. The other looked at teaching geometric construction with an emphasis on justification as the capstone unit in a high school geometry course.
