Our group attended the Undergraduate Faculty Program course on Topology, Geometry, and Knot Theory. The course was a work in progress, with each lecture given by a different member or trio of members of the UFP. We had two main goals for our participation in the course. First, we wanted to learn some advanced mathematics, namely the core ideas of topology, geometry, and knot theory. We accomplished that goal as well as we could manage, given the short time available and the compressed nature of the course. We did some challenging homework exercises to develop our knowledge. Second, we provided a real audience for the course and gave detailed feedback on the teaching of the course to Erica Flapan, the UFP coordinator, to supplement the feedback she was able to give to her participants.
