"TLP Live! A PCMI online community" will be a way of extending the time we spend together at PCMI throughout the school year. TLP Live! will have two online components: theory and practice.

Theory: To deepen our understanding of mathematical teaching practices, we will dedicate time during the school year studying 4 of the 8 mathematical teaching practices outlined in NCTM Principles to Actions. TLP Live! will have online and conference-call discussions based on each practice.

Practice: In order to deeper understand the mathematical teaching practices, we will look at evidence of how students engage with the classroom practice. We will do this by having PCMI alumni share a task that they think hits at the teaching practice being studied. The teacher will then share evidence of student thinking through a video of students engaging with the task or through copies of student work. A discussion will ensue that will help teachers reflect on their interaction with the focus Mathematical Teaching Practice.
